Chris Sutton makes Rangers admission, sends message to Celtic

Chris Sutton has admitted that Celtic cannot think they have won the Scottish Premiership already amid competition from Rangers.

The pundit admitted that the title race is not over despite many fans thinking so and stressed that the Hoops cannot take their chances this season.

He also tipped his hat to Philippe Clement’s side after they qualified for the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 this week.

“Contrary to what some fans think, the league is not done yet”, Sutton wrote in his column on Daily Record‘s website (1 February).

“Rangers, to their credit, have managed to reach the Europa League last 16 and are capable of finding some form in Scotland.

“Celtic can’t take any chances. The Scottish Cup is up for grabs as well, and that’s even before we get to the Champions League.”

Rangers to cause upset over Celtic in Scottish Premiership?

Celtic boast a 10-point lead over Rangers in the Premiership after playing 23 matches and having another game in hand.

Brendan Rodgers’ side can extend the gap at the top of the table to 13 points if they can win their game in hand and that would put the Gers in a difficult position.

Therefore, it is hard to see Clement’s side causing an upset over the Bhoys in the Premiership this season, contrary to what Sutton might think.

That is not to say that the Light Blues must give up on the chase already.

In football, things are not done until they actually are and the Ibrox outfit have a chance to catch up with Celtic until it is no longer realistically possible.

Furthermore, Clement and Co are still active in the Europa League and the Scottish Cup, keeping their hopes of winning silverware alive.
