Ianis Hagi bombshell: Sky Sports reveal major contract twist at Rangers

Rangers have not offered Ianis Hagi a new contract contrary to reports, according to Sky Sports.

The 26-year-old’s current contract at Ibrox runs out at the end of the season and David Edgar reported on Monday (27 January) that the Light Blues have offered him a fresh deal.

However, Sky Sports revealed via their live transfer blog (28 January, 1:42 pm) that those claims are wide of the mark, with talks only ongoing with Findlay Curtis and Zak Lovelace.

Ianis Hagi to leave Rangers after Ibrox revival?

It is worth noting that Hagi was told to find a new club after he returned from a season-long loan at Alaves in the summer.

Philippe Clement also exiled the Romania international from his first-team squad amid a contract dispute in Govan.

However, Hagi has since revived his career with the Glasgow giants, making 16 appearances across all competitions and contributing towards seven goals in the process.

It now remains to be seen if the attacker has done enough to earn himself a new contract at Rangers.

The Gers are seemingly in the process of reducing the average age of their squad and may not be against the idea of parting ways with Hagi as they look to make a pathway for their younger players.

It now remains to be seen how they plan to integrate players from the development squad into the first-team setup.
