Kieran Dowell transfer: Rangers talks begin for last-gasp Ibrox exit
Kieran Dowell is in talks to join Birmingham City on loan from Rangers in the winter transfer window, according to Chris Jack.
The journalist reports for the Rangers Review (26 January) that the League One outfit has made an approach to sign the 27-year-old until the end of the season.
A potential move is edging closer as the Gers are open to parting ways with the English midfielder before the 3 February deadline.
Rangers should sanction Kieran Dowell Birmingham City transfer
Dowell signed for the Light Blues from Norwich in 2023 but has failed to make a mark at Ibrox since.
Philippe Clement has hardly relied on the 27-year-old during his time at the Glaswegian outfit, and a move away would be best for both parties.
In the current campaign, the midfielder has made 16 appearances in all competitions for the Belgian manager’s team, but most of them have been off the bench.
The Bears could evidently do with getting his wages off their books and possibly signing another player in the winter window.
In recent weeks, Clement has given younger stars an opportunity at Rangers, and the gamble has proven fruitful so far.

It started with the inclusion of the likes of Hamza Igamane in the starting line-up, but academy prospects are now getting an outing.
Zak Lovelace, Bailey Rice and Findlay Curtis have enjoyed minutes in the last few matches, while Clinton Nsiala has provided cover at the back as the Gers face an injury crisis.
Birmingham are top of the table in League One and it remains to be seen how Dowell will fare if he does sign for them.
