Ridvan Yilmaz exit: Clement shares Rangers transfer update pre-Dundee United
Philippe Clement has confirmed that Ridvan Yilmaz is not set to leave Rangers despite his omission from their squad against Dundee United.
The left-back was a surprise absentee when the Gers announced their line-up to take on Jim Goodwin’s men with fans speculating whether it meant he could be on the way out of Ibrox.
Speaking to BBC reporter Alasdair Lamont before the clash, it seems that the Belgian has confirmed that the Turkey international is injured rather than being shown the exit door.
“Just spoken to Philippe Clement pre-match. He dismisses suggestions Ridvan Yilmaz is leaving Rangers, saying he has an injury today,” Lamont wrote via his personal X account (26 January).
Ridvan Yilmaz future remains at Rangers
While it has been made abundantly clear that Rangers need to sell some players before they bring any new faces in, it doesn’t feel like Yilmaz is the right man to be shown the exit door.
The left-back has been in impressive form for most of the campaign and has often been played out of position due to the sheer number of injuries that the Ibrox outfit have suffered.
The Turkey international has constantly been linked with moves away from Glasgow since the start of the season and it now seems that a move won’t be taking place in January which is likely music to fans’ ears.

While they may not have been the most accepting of the defender due to some of the mistakes he’s made, the lack of defensive options they have among their ranks at the moment make it feel essential that he stays.
Only time will tell what the future holds for the 23-year-old but for now at least, it looks likely that he’s going to remain a Rangers player.
In other Rangers news, Philippe Clement could look “weak” if he now drops Jack Butland for Liam Kelly.
