Rangers transfer model ‘disgraceful’ as multi-million pound Celtic news emerges
Patrick Stewart must accept very quickly just how dire Rangers’ current transfer model is in comparison to their Old Firm rivals.
The Gers continue to fall further and further behind Celtic on the pitch while activity during transfer markets showcases the differences off the pitch and behind the scenes.
Danilo’s £5million move to Scotland in 2023 is one of the most expensive signings at Ibrox in recent years [Football Scotland], with Tore Andre Flo’s arrival in 2001 remaining as the club’s record purchase
Brenden Rodgers’ side, however, splashed out in the summer, signing Adah Idah for £9.5million [Sky Sports], Arne Engels for £9million [The Scottish Sun], and even selling Matt O’Riley for £25million [BBC Sport].
The eye-watering numbers coming out of Celtic Park put the Gers’ disgraceful transfer model to shame, and further activity in the winter window only emphasises this point further.
Rangers put to shame by Celtic transfer news
The Hoops are now set to cash in on 30-year-old Kyogo Furuhashi, with Rennes closing in on a £10million deal for the Japanese international, who has netted 86 times in 167 appearances [Sky Sports].
It is absolutely understandable to see such figures going for a player who has been integral to Celtic’s attack over the last three-and-a-half seasons in Scotland, but it just puts the Light Blues to shame.
Despite outscoring Furuhashi over the last two seasons, Philippe Clement’s side are still struggling to offload Cyriel Dessers for little more than the £4.3million the club signed him for in 2023 [Fabrizio Romano].

The striker has continuously been linked with a move away from Scotland since the winter transfer opened, and while he receives a lot of criticism from fans and the media alike, he still has 39 goals to his name.
With the boardroom knowingly struggling financially, it is absolutely disgraceful to see little being done to fix this at Ibrox, or at least not being open with the supporters.
In other Rangers news, Ibrox fans were slammed as “shady” by a talkSPORT host after a Celtic clip played live on air.
