Manchester United v Rangers: Investigations soon underway post controversy
Manchester United sources have stressed an investigation will take place imminently after what happened against Rangers, according to the Daily Mail.
The news outlet reported on 24 January that there was a controversy at Old Trafford on 23 January with a lot of Gers fans getting their hands on home tickets and being in the home end.
Sources from the Manchester-based outfit have vowed to take the most serious sanctions against any fan found guilty of selling their ticket or passing it on.
Rangers fans swarmed Manchester in numbers
While 3700 Gers fans officially made the trip, the number is estimated to be 10,000 – nearly three times that amount,
There were instances of fans being in the home end and then getting into scraps with the home support after celebrating the goal.
While passion is understandable and going to a historic ground like Old Trafford a one-time experience, Gers fans should respect the rules set in place.
There was extra policing for this fixture for a reason as things were expected to get ugly, and unfortunately, they did.
It remains to be seen how successful the authorities are in finding out the guilty parties as there are understood to be multiple such instances.

Hopefully, such things will not happen in the future as it’s the best for the safety of the fans and it will ensure that the game can be enjoyed as it should be.
