Marcus Rashford sends four-word Manchester United message in Rangers game

Marcus Rashford has shown his support for Manchester United in their Europa League clash against Rangers on Thursday.

Philippe Clement’s side could have boosted their chances of automatic qualification in the Europa League with victory on 23 January – with Rio Ferdinand left fuming by what he saw in the first half at Old Trafford.

Despite suggestions that Rashord might return against the Gers, the English forward was left out of the squad by Ruben Amorim.

However, that didn’t stop him from showing his support, posting a picture of himself in attendance at the game via a story on his official Instagram account (23 January), alongside the caption “Come on the boys”.

A Jack Butland own-goal but the home side ahead at the start of the second half.

Rashford’s situation at Old Trafford is a baffling one, and it remains unclear whether or not the 27-year-old will secure a move away from the club before the winter transfer window closes.

However, that won’t be of any concern to Clement or his players. In fact, they would likely have just been glad to see that a player of his quality wasn’t involved against them on Thursday night.

United have been in very poor form as of late, and Amorim hasn’t made the start to life he would have liked in Manchester. Therefore, it feels as though there could have been an opportunity for Rangers to capitalise.

Should Rangers go on and secure a famous victory over United, they would move up to fourth in the Europa League table, which would leave them in an incredibly promising position to secure automatic qualification to the next round of the competition – while silencing critics in the process.

They will need to come from behind though.

In other Rangers news, Graham Spiers has labelled the club’s fans as “embarrassing” after footage from Manchester emerged.
