Darren Bent claims that he "can't see" a way Manchester United won't beat Rangers ahead in their Europa League clash on Thursday night.

Rangers prepare to face United at Old Trafford on 23 January, with both sides enduring tough seasons in their respective leagues.

Ruben Amorim's side have arguably had it the toughest, with some even lightly tipping United to be in a relegation fight, but that didn't sway the opinion of Bent as he seemed to think a win for the Red Devils was a given.

After co-host Andy Goldstein said live on talkSPORT [23 January, 4:09pm] he doesn't think United will win, a surprised Bent replied: "I can't see how you don't think they will. Come on."

Rangers need to prove Darren Bent wrong v Man United

Ultimately, nothing is a given in football and when taking into consideration the level of disarray at Man United, Rangers have every chance of securing a win.

An away encounter at Old Trafford is nowhere near as intimidating as it used to be and if anything, it can play into the away side's advantage if things start off poorly for the Red Devils.

Frustration across all areas of Manchester United is evident and that will become audible if the Light Blues are able to nullify any early threat from Amorim's side, but to do that, they will need to be at their best.

United still have very talented players, and many of them are capable of inflicting significant damage on almost any side in the world. If Rangers aren't at the races, they could face the brunt of that.

It promises to be an interesting encounter, but certainly one that could favour Rangers more.
