Rangers star Leon Balogun was spotted in a "worrying" moment against Manchester United on Thursday, Tom English has said.

The Gers lost 2-1 in the Europa League clash at Old Trafford on 23 January, with Balogun in consultation with Philippe Clement before he was taken off.

There was a concern towards the end of the first 45 minutes as the Nigeria international was seen limping after knocking the ball away from Joshua Zirkzee and he did not return for the second half.

Speaking live on BBC Sportsound (23 January, 20:56), English raised the concern, saying: "Balogun limped off, didn't he?

"Clement went over to him, that is worrying."

Rangers will miss Leon Balogun after injury blow

Balogun was unable to shake off his injury for the second half of the contest and was replaced by Bailey Rice at the interval, in a great moment for the youngster.

The Gers will hope that his injury is not serious and does not rule him out for a considerable period otherwise the crisis will continue at Auchenhowie.

The Bears are already struggling in defence with John Souttar, Dujon Sterling and Neraysho Kasanwirjo already on the sidelines for Clement's side.

Losing the 36-year-old will be a major blow for the Belgian given the injuries already in his squad and the pressure surrounding his future at Ibrox.

The Govan side have won their last three matches in all competitions but draws with Hibernian and Dundee before that have left them 13 points behind Celtic.
