Chris Sutton ‘rattled’ by huge Celtic news that ‘has Rangers licking their lips’

Rangers fans are likely to be delighted after Chris Sutton’s reacted to the latest Celtic transfer update.

Le Parisien reported on Wednesday 22 January that Stade Rennais have stepped up their interest in Kyogo Furuhashi to reach an agreement worth £10.14million (€12m).

This could mean that the Japan international has already played his final game for the Gers’ Old Firm rivals in their narrow Champions League win against Young Boys.

Given how many goals the 30-year-old has scored for the Hoops, this deal is likely to please the Ibrox faithful while frustrating Celtic fans.

This theory has only been backed up by Sutton’s comments in the aftermath of the transfer update.

Rangers fans delight as Chris Sutton rattled by Kyogo Furuhashi exit at Celtic

The former Parkhead striker and pundit has taken to X (23 January) to voice his discontent over this potential January deal.

He said: “All the rumours doing the rounds regarding ins and outs at Celtic. The one thing I really aren’t keen on is Kyogo leaving in January, especially with CL and domestic to play for.

“If that’s the case his replacement will have to be pretty special and have to hit the ground running.”

If the Light Blues supporters weren’t happy enough to see the Japanese forward departing Glasgow, they will be happier still to see Sutton so frustrated.

Although Philippe Clement’s side finds themselves 13 points behind their biggest rivals, this sale could represent a change in the tide of Scottish football.

Furuhashi has netted 87 goals since moving to G40 which have helped contribute to three Premiership titles and as a result, his exit could represent the end of that dominance.

That is what the supporters in Govan will be hoping anyway.
