Jefte ‘perfect Rangers weapon’ to counter ‘Magic’ Manchester United ace

Rangers left-back Jefte faces a huge test against Manchester United in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Brazilian is set to come up against Amad Diallo, who spent half a season on loan at Ibrox in 2022.

The Ivorian attacker has scored six goals and notched six assists in 20 Premier League matches this season, including an equaliser against Liverpool at Anfield and a winner against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Red Devils reporter Jay Motty told the Rangers Review (20 January) that Diallo is their key man, saying: “Amad, he’s been great, in fact, we’re overreliant on him, if it is not him, who is it? He seems to be only one who is capable of producing that bit of magic.”

Therefore, it is paramount that the Gers’ perfect weapon keeps him quiet at Old Trafford.

Rangers star Jefte set for a big night

The Gers star will have to be on top form to cope with the blistering pace of the 22-year-old, otherwise, Philippe Clement’s side will be in trouble.

As Motty states, he is the Old Trafford outfit’s most dangerous man at the moment and has scored four goals in his last four Premier League matches although three were against bottom-dwellers Southampton.

The Bears currently occupy the final automatic qualification spot for the round of 16 but a defeat against Ruben Amorim’s side could give at least nine teams the chance to leapfrog them.

The Brazilian has impressed since moving to Ibrox in the summer but this will be his toughest task to date.

If he passes it with flying colours then the Light Blues could cause an upset, in the eyes of the neutral anyway because United are not playing that well right now.

It would be a huge scalp for Clement’s side if they could come away with victory and Jefte will be a key factor in whether they do so.
