Rangers transfers: ‘Big problem’ emerges on Cyriel Dessers exit

Rangers may have a “big problem” selling Cyriel Dessers due to his high wages, believes Hugh MacDonald.

The Daily Mail journalist stated that Gers may have to come to a compromise on his wages or the transfer fee they end up getting for him.

Despite scoring a hat-trick over the weekend against Fraserburg, the 30-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Ibrox and is ready to leave in this window. [TEAMtalk, 10 January]

MacDonald told PLZ Soccer at 33:50: “That’s going to be the stumbling block is actually getting a buyer for him.

“From what I understand, he’s on a big wage, so he’s quite rightly not going to go to a club that might offer him 50-60 per cent of what he’s on right now unless Rangers come to some compromise on transfer fee or wages.

“So that might be the big problem.”

Rangers have to find a way to get Cyriel Dessers out of the club

Gers may have to do something like pay a part of his wages for the first year or something like that in order to get the deal over the line.

It’s hard to feel bad for the club as it’s their decision makers who made such a thing happen in the first place.

Had he been on the money he deserved, it would not have been hard getting him out whenever they want.

It’s like they’re now stuck with a liability and he’s costing money while not really reaping the rewards that they want him to reap.

He has missed big chances frequently and gone missing in big games time and again, much to the annoyance of the Ibrox faithful.

It remains to be seen if he does end up leaving the club in January or if there isn’t credible interest shown in him.
