Rangers to take Neraysho Kasanwirjo transfer ‘Risk’ after recent news

Rangers will be taking a “risk” if they sign Neraysho Kasanwirjo permanently in the summer transfer window, Chris Jack says.

The Rangers Review journalist has urged the Gers to be wary of the Dutch loanee after he picked up a serious injury earlier in the season.

Jack doesn’t want the Light Blues to take a gamble on the 22-year-old as they get set to meet with Feyenoord to terminate his loan deal [Feyenoord Pings, 19 January].

Speaking on The Rangers Review (21 January), the journalist said: “You’ve got guys in the squad who’ve had knee injuries as of late, Hagi and Danilo. They’ve come back, but their rehab was long. It took them a long time to get back fit and up to speed.

“Will Rangers want to wait on Kasanwirjo? Is he worth waiting on? He could be. A lot of fans would say, let’s allow another club to find out… I think it would be too big a risk.”

Rangers should discard Neraysho Kasanwirjo summer transfer

Kasanwirjo picked up a serious knock, and it remains to be seen how long the youngster will take to get back to his best, being out for the entire season.

The 22-year-old isn’t tied down to the Glaswegian outfit, and it wouldn’t make sense for them to keep the defender beyond his loan spell while he continues to get match-fit.

While the right-back impressed during his few outings with the Bears, they should wait to see how he progresses over the year before making another approach.

Rangers fans had to wait a long time to see Ianis Hagi get back to his best after suffering a knee injury in 2022, which is finally happening on the other side of a contract dispute.

Danilo is another player who has had his fair share of fitness issues at the Gers, picking up another knock recently.

The Light Blues will need to bolster the right-hand side of their defence regardless if James Tavernier is to leave in the coming months.

Dujon Sterling has already proven to be a great asset under Philippe Clement and could be the successor for the Bears’ captain, but has injury problems too.

There will still evidently be a need for a backup, but the Glaswegian outfit could look internally and put their faith in Adam Devine instead of spending money on a reinforcement.

In other Rangers news, Cyriel Dessers’ transfer is pretty much done after what Clement has said.
