Cyriel Dessers looks on his way out of Rangers in the winter transfer window after the 5-0 win against Fraserburgh, Barry Ferguson says.

The ex-Gers captain believes the Nigerian striker's move away from Ibrox is "pretty much" sealed, as Philippe Clement admitted that he's not happy with his lack of minutes this season [Daily Record, 19 January].

Ferguson moots the possibility of a deal happening sooner rather than later.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show (20 January), the 46-year-old said: "In terms of staying for the long-term, the way the manager spoke [after the Fraserburgh win], pretty much looks like there could be a deal happening where he could leave."

Rangers dilemma with Cyriel Dessers transfer continues

Dessers seems like a dispensable asset in the Light Blues' squad right now due to his dwindling influence in the starting lineup.

The 30-year-old has fallen behind Hamza Igamane and Danilo in the pecking order, and it's understandable if he would want to leave Ibrox in the coming weeks.

While a transfer would suit all parties under ideal circumstances, injury issues in the squad have put the Bears in a probable dilemma.

Danilo has already missed a significant portion of the current campaign due to injury and is once again on the sidelines at Rangers.

Dessers proved he's a worthy backup after scoring three goals in the 5-0 win over Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup on Sunday (19 January).

The Nigerian striker will seemingly not want to play second fiddle, though, making a transfer before 3 February likely.

If the 30-year-old were to leave, the Gers will evidently need to reinforce the attack, which isn't an easy task mid-season.

It remains to be seen how the saga will unfold.
