Rangers should sell Cyriel Dessers in the winter transfer window despite his three goals in the win against Fraserburgh, Stevie Clifford says.

The Four Lads Had a Dream man shared a "brutally honest" verdict as the Glaswegian outfit has been told to cash in on the Nigerian forward.

Hamza Igamane and Danilo are considered significantly better options, with the Light Blues urged to sign a new prospect if the 30-year-old leaves.

Speaking on The Rangers Review (20 January), Clifford said: "Brutally honest, if somebody comes in with the money, then Dessers should be moved on. It's quite simple.

"If Dessers does go, then you want to find the next up-and-coming youngster. That's the pool of people we should be looking to sign.

"Igamane and Danilo are miles clear in ability and what they bring to the team than Dessers."

The Bears shouldn't have any second thoughts if an offer is made for Dessers before the 3 February deadline.

Nils Koppen should sanction the centre-forward's exit and immediately use those funds to bolster the attack for Philippe Clement.

The Light Blues should be encouraged by the success of Igamane and must look to replicate similar deals in the coming transfer windows.

Rangers finally look like a cohesive outfit as they sailed past Fraserburgh in the Scottish Cup on Sunday (20 January), with the 30-year-old scoring a hat-trick.

Dessers did miss a few chances during the game, though, and his inconsistency has led to a strained relationship with the Ibrox faithful.

Igamane has been the Belgian manager's go-to number nine this season after some impressive performances from the youngster.

With game time limited, the Nigerian will undoubtedly be looking to leave for pastures new, and the Glaswegian outfit should not stand in his way.
