Cyriel Dessers torn to shreds after ‘incredible’ Rangers moment v Fraserburgh
James McFadden was almost in disbelief as Cyriel Dessers missed an open goal in the first half between Rangers and Fraserburgh on Sunday.
With the two sides going head-to-head in the Scottish Cup, the exit-linked striker had the perfect chance to relieve any early concerns at Ibrox, only to miskick his effort just metres from goal.
The 30-year-old, who has notched seven goals in the Scottish Premiership this season, has recently been replaced in the starting lineup by Hamza Igamane, and his rustiness showed in his poor finish.
However, it must be said that he rectified his miss with a goal from a corner in the 27th minute.
Speaking live via BBC Scotland [19 January, 2:23pm], McFadden said: “It’s a great pass from Bajrami, who spots the run from McCausland. He does really well on the half-volley and, I’m sorry, that has to be hitting the back of the net.
“It’s potentially going out for a throw-in from that position, which is just incredible. It’s the kind of miss that sums up Cyriel Dessers’ Rangers career.”
Cyriel Dessers stinks out Ibrox after first half of Rangers v Fraserburgh
Only one of Dessers’ last 14 appearances has come from the start, with Philippe Clement clearly preferring Igamane as his first-choice striker after a massive rise in form.
Of course, his cameo against Aberdeen last time out saw him grab his seventh goal of the league campaign, but his overall displays have been a source of frustration ever since his arrival.
Igamane has already outscored the veteran striker, with supporters now wishing and hoping for the Light Blues to find an exit for him before the transfer window slams shut on 3 February.

His awful miss in the first half against Fraserburgh is just evidence of what the Nigerian is capable of, even after scoring within just a minute of coming on against the Dons on Wednesday (15 January).
Fans are just becoming more and more fed-up with the forward, even with him now playing a support role from the bench the majority of the time, and Nils Koppen needs to listen to those voices.
