Cyriel Dessers exit ‘a goer’ at Rangers after new interview

Rangers will likely sanction an exit for Cyriel Dessers before the winter transfer window closes if the right offer is tabled, according to Derek Ferguson.

Dessers has lost his place as a regular starter for the Gers this season and continues to be linked with a move away from Ibrox ahead of the 3 February deadline.

The Nigeria international even admitted in a new interview this week that his time in Glasgow may be up, adding that his situation is “difficult”.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, former Rangers player and now BBC Sport pundit Ferguson said of those comments: “He’s one of the club’s highest earners.

He’ll come out and say he loves the club and whatnot, but I’m not so sure. I think he could go if the money is right. If Rangers can get him off the wage bill, that’s a goer.

Nils Koppen and Co. have a massive decision to make when it comes to the future of Dessers at Ibrox.

The Gers are not exactly blessed with too many options up top, especially given Danilo’s injury record, but it is clear Dessers is not the answer for Philippe Clement.

That said, though, this comes down to what offers are tabled – if any. There has been talk of various clubs across Europe showing an interest, but it appears nothing concrete has emerged thus far.

If a bid of around £4million is tabled, though, then it will leave the Gers with a massive call to make.

Ultimately, that is money that could be spent on a player who has a far better conversion rate.

Until those bids are forthcoming, however, it is very much a moot point.
