Andy Halliday reacts to Rangers fan protests against Ibrox board
Rangers fans have every right to protest against the Ibrox boardroom, Andy Halliday says.
The former Gers ace believes supporters are right to be critical of how the Glaswegian outfit has been run over the years.
Halliday lauded the Union Bears as they left Ibrox peacefully in the 55th minute during the 3-1 win over St Johnstone on Sunday (12 January).
Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard (13 January), the 33-year-old said: “Being a supporter or being a loyal supporter doesn’t translate to agreeing and backing absolutely everything that Rangers do.
“You have every right to be critical in the way the club is being run, whether it be results on the pitch, how it’s being run off it, the stadium not being ready at the start of the season, change of manager every year.
“The right way to be critical is a protest. Peacefully, no violence, no trouble caused. And that’s exactly what happened.”
Rangers fans have had enough of Philippe Clement and Ibrox board
The Light Blues have been in turmoil on and off the pitch for months, with a new chief executive officer and chairman only recently being appointed after a long wait.
Philippe Clement has also faced the ire of the fans after some abysmal performances from the Gers since the start of the season.
While the displays have been better in recent weeks, the inconsistency at the Bears has left fans scratching their heads and wanting a change.
Rangers are also not in the best of positions financially, all of which has led to dissatisfaction among the Ibrox faithful.
The Bears are currently 15 points behind their arch-rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, which is embarrassing.

While the Glaswegian outfit has shown glimpses of life, their record away from home is shocking.
Clement always seems to be one negative result away from getting the sack, but Patrick Stewart and the rest of the hierarchy are backing the Belgian manager for now.
Unless the 50-year-old head coach can lift a trophy by the end of the season, the fans will keep calling for his replacement.
