Rangers fans may soon get their wish after Philippe Clement job update
Rangers fans may get their wish soon if Philippe Clement is hired by Belgium.
The 50-year-old has irked some parts of the fanbase with the club sitting 15 points behind arch-rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.
However, CEO Patrick Stewart reassured the former Monaco man that his future at Ibrox was safe for now as long as there was an upturn in results.
Supporters that want Clement gone may have the last laugh though after an update from Johan Boskamp, who via the Glasgow Times (13 January) shared an update on the Belgium job: “I am sure Philippe Clement’s name has certainly been discussed.”
Clement hanging on Rangers, for now
Clement was given assurances over his job security by Stewart earlier this week but that could change if results do not improve.
His side have won just two of their last six matches and the pressure surrounding his future is still immense.
Some supporters walked out of the 3-1 win over St. Johnstone on 13 January in the 55th minute to protest the way that the Ibrox club is being run and the decision on the Belgian’s future.

Those actions have divided the fanbase, with supporters who left being booed by those still in the stadium while also leading to criticism from Chris Sutton on BBC Radio 5 live (12 January).
There has been little to suggest that Clement will be able to turn the situation at Ibrox around and catch up to the Hoops anytime soon and once a manager loses the fans, it is usually game over.
The idea of Clement falling upwards and managing his national team is utterly ridiculous given his struggles with the Light Blues.
