Elon Musk claim emerges as Rangers open to new investment
Ally McCoist has admitted that he would take Elon Musk as the Rangers owner for a season after the recent links to Liverpool.
The Tesla and X owner’s father Errol Musk refused to rule out claims that his son was keen on purchasing the Anfield outfit.
The possibility of a sugar daddy taking over has been ruled out by Hugh MacDonald but the club are understood to be open to new investment.
Talking about Musk’s proposed interest in Liverpool, McCoist told talkSPORT, as quoted by the Scottish Sun: “Just for the record I’d take him at Rangers for a season OK?
“It is a shambles really, it cannot be a story.”
Rangers fans would not want Elon Musk to take over the club
Most Gers fans would likely oppose Musk taking over their club, considering his track record with Twitter post-acquisition.
After buying the social media platform, the billionaire significantly cut the workforce, altered content moderation policies and used the platform for his own political agendas, which have been divisive and have led to a decrease in user and advertiser trust.
His heavy political leanings might not align with the diverse views of Gers supporters, potentially turning the club into a political statement rather than a football institution.
Furthermore, Musk’s lack of football knowledge would be a significant concern as managing a football club requires understanding not just finances but also the culture and passionate community that surrounds the Ibrox outfit.
His approach might not cater to or understand the everyday concerns and aspirations of the fans, who value tradition and community over corporate or political agendas.

Despite potential financial benefits, Musk’s ownership could disrupt the club’s identity and fanbase harmony and the supporters will be wise enough to see this one coming.
In other Rangers news, a major development has emerged as Gers want to sign a Norwich first-team player.
