Rangers takeover stance could change amid £50m problem

Rangers may need to change their stance on the takeover and rather than just welcoming new investors, should instead open the door for a full sale.

The interim chairman John Gilligan has officially dismissed a full takeover as they do not want one man calling the shots.

Via Caught Offside, he said: "Current investors are prepared to do that (invest). We are open to new approaches but it has to be right people and not one owner.”

Tam McManus told PLZ Soccer, as quoted by the Daily Record that there are rumours about parties in the Far East potentially willing to buy the Ibrox outfit.

The newspaper also reported Dave King claiming that it would take £50million to meet short and medium-term objectives, an immediate problem, of sorts.

Rangers should be open to American or even a Far East takeover

City AM even reported on 27 August that there were Americans keen on buying the club which they valued at £150million.

A takeover, be it Americans, Far East entities or anyone with the knowledge of running clubs and taking them to the next level could significantly benefit Rangers.

They would provide not just the immediate financial injection needed for short-term objectives, but also by bringing fresh strategic vision and global market connections, particularly if the buyers are from regions like the Far East or America.

These investors often come with extensive networks for sponsorships, partnerships and new revenue streams, which could elevate Gers' commercial operations.

Moreover, a full sale might lead to a more decisive and streamlined decision-making process, potentially resolving issues like squad management, infrastructure development and fan engagement more effectively than the current model of multiple investors with differing agendas.

This is why a change of stance is imperative but it's certainly complicated as it would require a lot of different entities to arrive at a mutual conclusion.
