Hibs v Rangers: Tam McManus shares score prediction – ‘Shocking’
Tam McManus has backed Hibs to come away with a point from their game against Rangers on Sunday.
Gers, riding high on the 3-0 win against Celtic, travel to Easter Road to take on Hibs on 5 January.
Philippe Clement’s side need to win every game if they are to mount a title challenge, with Celtic currently 11 points clear.
McManus told PLZ Soccer on 3 January at 53:11: “Hibs have not beat Rangers in a long time. The record has been shocking. Rangers obviously coming off the back here of a fantastic result but I just think that Rangers this season have got two different teams. Very Jekyl and Hyde. At home, they’ve been very strong. Their home record’s been excellent.
“If you’re Hibs, hopefully, Joe Newell and Elie Youan are back and they’re at full strength then you go into the game thinking you can finally get rid of that hoodoo.”
Finally, when asked for a prediction, he said: “Two each.”
Rangers cannot afford to drop points against Hibs
Given Hibs’ current standing at seventh in the league and their record of more losses than wins this season, Gers simply cannot afford to drop points in their upcoming match at Easter Road.
Clement’s side are in dire need of a consistent run of victories to close the significant gap with Celtic at the top of the table.
Every game is crucial for Rangers if they are to mount a title challenge, and facing a lower-ranked team like Hibs presents an opportunity that must be capitalised on.
The psychological boost from their recent victory over Celtic should propel them, but complacency could be costly.
Dropping points here could severely hamper their title aspirations, making this match against Hibs not just about winning, but about demonstrating the consistency needed to challenge for the league crown.
A bad performance would once again see questions being raised about Clement’s ability to manage this team.
