Rangers disagreement emerges after ‘Sensational’ moment v Celtic
Alan Rough and Peter Martin disagreed after a “sensational” moment from Ianis Hagi as Rangers smashed Celtic at Ibrox on Thursday.
Martin believes the Gers should have been awarded a penalty after the ball appeared to hit Alistair Johnston’s hand in the first half of the 3-0 victory on 2 January.
Hagi beat the Hoops’ right-back with his quality, leading to the possible handball, but Rough didn’t think there was much in it.
Speaking on PLZ Soccer (2 January), Martin said: “It was absolutely fantastic. His [Hagi’s] skill was sensational, and I think he was looking for the hand there, Roughy. Was it a hand from Johnson? I thought so.”
Rough responded: “No. Not for me.”
Rangers destroy Celtic with Ianis Hagi
Philippe Clement has come back under pressure at the Glaswegian outfit after the results against St Mirren and Motherwell.
The Belgian manager hasn’t had the best of starts to the campaign, and the Bears’ form has mainly been underwhelming over the last few months.
Hagi was brilliant throughout against Celtic and was rewarded for his efforts with his goal, taking pressure off Clement in the immediate future.
Rangers are unlikely to catch up to their Old Firm rivals in the Scottish Premiership, and there have been calls for the replacement of the 50-year-old head coach to be fired.

The Light Blues still have a lot to play for in the current campaign, with qualification to the knockout stages of the Europa League in their hands.
With the Scottish Cup also set to commence in January, the Gers have another trophy to play for.
Just like in the Premier Sports Cup final, the Light Blues dominated Brendan Rodgers’ team for most of it and have shown that they can go toe-to-toe with the best.
In other Rangers news, further changes have been mooted at Ibrox amid pressure on Clement.
