Kris Boyd has made a new Philippe Clement sack claim after Rangers drew with Motherwell on Sunday.

The former Gers forward believes sports science are "running" the Glaswegian outfit after the 2-2 draw against Stuart Kettlewell's team in the Scottish Premiership (29 December).

Boyd has argued that the Belgian manager will be at fault if he's relieved of his duties after making several changes to his starting lineup at Fir Park on the basis of sports science.

Speaking on Sky Sports Scotland (29 December), the 41-year-old said: "If Philippe Clement is going to lose his job off the back of sports science, and that is running the football club at this moment in time, then that's his issue."

Philippe Clement undoing Rangers positives after Motherwell draw

Clement is undoing the recent positives that were seen at the Glaswegian outfit after the Tottenham and Celtic clashes.

The Light Blues lost to St Mirren on Boxing Day and have now once again dropped points against Motherwell.

With their Old Firm rivals getting a victory over St Johnstone, the Bears are now 14 points behind Brendan Rodgers' team in the league table.

Rangers are unlikely to catch up to the Hoops, but Clement still needs to ensure that the Gers kept their fine form going into the New Year.

The Light Blues still have a lot to play for, with qualification to the Europa League knockout stages in their hands.

With the Scottish Cup starting in January, the Bears have silverware to play for.

It doesn't look like the Belgian is the right man to lead the Glaswegian outfit going forward after the recent displays.

Patrick Stewart has only just started his role at Ibrox, but he needs to be swift in his decision to appoint a new head coach.
