Rangers v Celtic: Jim White instantly reacts to Ibrox scenes
Jim White lauded Rangers for their “big performance” against Celtic on Thursday as they triumphed 3-0 over their arch-rivals.
Ianis Hagi opened up the scoring for Philippe Clement’s men and was one of the main driving forces behind the Gers’ victory.
Robin Propper and Danilo were also on the scoresheet on 2 January as Rangers, despite being without a string of key men, eased to victory.
Writing via his personal X account (2 January), talkSPORT presenter White shared his thoughts on the performance the Ibrox outfit put on during their Scottish Premiership clash.
“No Tavernier, no Butland, no Balogun – no problem,” he wrote. “Big performance by Rangers.”
Philippe Clement and Rangers did themselves proud
Going into the game, it’s highly unlikely that anyone expected the Gers to emerge as 3-0 victors.
Their recent performances against the likes of St Mirren and Motherwell didn’t exactly fill fans with hope, but the Belgian managed to lead his team to a rather impressive performance that saw them on the front foot for most of the clash.
Although there are still 11 points that Rangers need to make up in order to claim the top spot from their arch-rivals, it feels like if their form keeps to this level, it could genuinely be possible.
Nobody expected Rangers to be as dominant as they were on Thursday and it really showed what Clement and his men are capable of.
Of course, there’s still the entire second half of the season left to go and more injuries could occur or players could be sold in January.
But it feels like if Rangers keep to this level, things will start to go swimmingly at Ibrox sooner rather than later, albeit that is easier said than done.
