John Mousinho confirms if Rangers rumours are true amid speculation

John Mousinho has ruled out any chances of Portsmouth looking to sign Rangers youngster Robbie Fraser in January.

The left-back’s Ibrox exit has been mooted for some time now but nothing has yet come to fruition.

The defender is currently third in Philippe Clement’s pecking order with both Jefte and Ridvan Yilmaz ahead of him.

Speaking to BBC Radio Solent in quotes relayed by The Portsmouth News (31 December) Pompey boss Mousinho shared his thoughts on the rumours surrounding the young Scotsman.

“No, nothing in that, nothing in that,” he said.

Rangers need to sanction a loan deal for Robbie Fraser

Things haven’t gone quite to plan for Rangers in the Scottish Premiership this season.

Although Clement has done a decent job in both the Europa League and the Scottish League Cup, it still feels like a lot more should be coming from the Gers in the league.

At the moment, the club have two senior left-backs who seem to be taking up the role of full-back in the Belgian’s squad which hasn’t left a gap for Fraser to fit in.

If Rangers want the youngster to fulfil his potential and perhaps become a key figure for them in the future, he needs to be playing on regular basis.

This season, the 21-year-old has only played a total of 25 minutes for the Gers’ senior squad which is far from ideal.

While a permanent switch shouldn’t be sanctioned due to the potential the Scotsman has, it feels like a loan move for the second-half of the season could be the best thing for both parties.

In other Rangers news, the club have agreed another off-field appointment with a four-month wait until they take charge at Ibrox.
