Rangers star ‘Stupid’ after incident in win v Celtic at Ibrox
Nicolas Raskin was “stupid” to pick up a yellow card as Rangers smashed Celtic at Ibrox on Thursday, Tam McManus says.
The pundit wasn’t pleased with the Belgian midfielder after Don Robertson booked him for a scuffle with Callum McGregor on 2 January in the 3-0 victory (2 January).
McManus feels the booking blemished an overall impressive display from the 23-year-old, who is now suspended for the next match.
Speaking on PLZ Soccer (2 January), the 43-year-old said: “I don’t think McGregor was aggressive there. I think it was Raskin who kind of raised his hands and grabbed him.
“It’s a pity for Raskin because he’s been superb the first half. He’s had a great performance, and that’s just a stupid yellow card. You need to play with your head in these games, not your heart.”
Nicolas Raskin key for Rangers in win v Celtic
Raskin has cemented his place in Philippe Clement’s starting lineup after struggling to find minutes at the start of the season, wearing the captain’s armband today.
In recent months, the midfielder has become an essential player for the 50-year-old head coach at the Glaswegian outfit.
Clement made a baffling decision to drop the 23-year-old from the starting lineup in the 2-1 loss to St Mirren on Boxing Day.
Rangers dominated Brendan Rodgers’ team from the first minute to the last at Ibrox on Thursday, with Ianis Hagi, Robin Propper and Danilo finding the back of the net.

The Light Blues must maintain their momentum in January, as they have a massive fixture against Manchester United in the Europa League.
With Fraserburgh set to face the Light Blues at Ibrox on 19 January in the Scottish Cup, Clement can still win silverware in the current campaign.
The Bears can still salvage the season but need this consistency to have something to show for in six months.
In other Rangers news, Neil Warnock has slammed Clement as disrespectful after what he did.
