Neil Lennon shocked live on Sky Sports at what player did in Rangers 3-0 Celtic
Neil Lennon was left shocked by the poor defending of Daizen Maeda after he allowed Robin Propper to bag the second Rangers goal against Celtic.
The Dutchman was waiting at the back post and as Nico Raskin’s initial effort was blocked, the deflection led the ball to the head of the Rangers centre-back, who doubled the Ibrox outfit’s lead.
The game ended 3-0 in the favour of Philippe Clement’s men, who saw their deficit to first-place taken down to 11 points from 14.
Speaking live on Sky Sports Main Event (2 January, 5:20pm), ex-Celtic boss Lennon shared his thoughts on the defensive work of the Celtic attacker.
“It’s shocking. Maeda lets him go. It’s a free header from a corner,” he said.
Rangers far superior to Celtic at Ibrox
Much like his teammates, Maeda had a rather poor outing in their Scottish Premiership defeat to the Gers on 2 January.
Going into the game, it’s highly unlikely that anybody expected Rangers to put on as strong of a performance as they did.
Not only did it show that the Gers actually do have a decent level of performance within them, but it also showed that they could be in the title race by the end of the term, especially if their form is kept at the same level.

Of course, there’s still a massive gap between the Gers and Celtic points wise, but if Brendan Rodgers’ men slip up like this a few more times, Clement’s side could be in with a chance of putting up a decent fight for the title by the end of the term.
Which, in reality, is exactly what fans have been wanting to see since the season first kicked off.
