Aberdeen ‘furious’ over Rangers transfer leak

Aberdeen are “furious” over the leak of a tribunal verdict on Rangers move for Connor Barron, according to The Sun.

The newspaper’s print edition (page 48) reported on 2 January that the Dons were unhappy with misinformation involving the fee that the Gers have been forced to pay.

Chris Jack reported on Rangers Review on 31 December that the Light Blues would have to pay £600,000 for the 22-year-old after the two clubs had failed to agree a fee upon completion of his move to Ibrox in the summer.

However, the report claims that the Pittodrie club have insisted that the figure decided upon by the Scottish FA is actually £639,920 plus add-ons.

Rangers can focus on football now

Philippe Clement’s time in the dugout at Ibrox has been hampered by off-field issues constantly but now his side can focus on their problems on the pitch.

The ruling brings an end to the feud with the Dons and the Light Blues can now attempt to bridge the 14-point gap to arch-rivals Celtic at the top of the league without this distraction.

The former Aberdeen man has featured 16 times for Clement’s side in the Premiership so far, playing a total of 1205 league minutes.

He could be forced to impress a new manager soon with the Belgian on thin ice at Ibrox after recent results saw the Gers fall even further behind Celtic.

A loss on Thursday (2 January) against the Bhoys could spell the end for the former Monaco boss and see the Light Blues looking for his successor.
