Rangers development sees genuine concern emerge at SPFL rivals
Rangers being ordered to pay £600,000 for Connor Barron has led to “genuine concern” at other SPFL clubs, according to the Daily Record.
The news outlet reported on 1 January that they have been in touch with the senior figures at a number of clubs in Scotland’s first division, who are surprised at how little the amount is.
The Dons will also have to take off a substantial amount of those earnings accounting for legal fees they’ve had to pay in order to put their point across.
Rangers get a good deal for Connor Barron
The tribunal’s decision to set Barron’s transfer fee at £600,000 represents a significant coup for Gers, who have secured a promising Scottish midfielder at what many consider a bargain price.
Barron, who has already shown his value in both domestic and European competitions, could prove to be a valuable asset for the Ibrox outfit without straining their transfer budget significantly.
This acquisition allows Rangers to bolster their squad with a homegrown talent who has the potential to develop further.
However, this outcome raises serious concerns about the governance and financial structure of Scottish football.
The relatively low compensation might deter clubs like Aberdeen from investing in youth academies, knowing that the return on such investments could be minimal when players move within Scotland.

There needs to be some sort of a middle ground that needs to be found or the gulf between the SPFL and other top European leagues may get even bigger.
