Sky Sports presenter issues on-air apology ahead of Rangers v Celtic question
Sky Sports presenter Vicky Gomersall issued an on-air apology to reporter Luke Shanley who was standing out in the rain ahead of a question about the upcoming clash between Rangers and Celtic.
The Gers face their rivals in league action on Thursday (2 January) as they seek quick revenge for a heart-breaking Scottish League final defeat on penalties this month.
Shanley was on Sky Sports News ahead of the game, reporting from outside Ibrox on Monday (30 December) with the rain lashing down on him.
Gomersall apologised to her colleague as she said live on Sky Sports News (1:34pm): “Luke, I feel sorry to ask you a second question because it’s absolutely chucking it down there, but I’m going to do it anyway – sorry!”
Shanley was asked if everything points to a Celtic win this week to which he replied: “Celtic will learn from the last game and want to be better. They’ll know they should have seen that cup final out.
“But the difference is, they got over the line and tend to do that in this fixture.
“So yes, Celtic will be the favourites for this fixture.”
Rangers v Celtic clash could be the end of Philippe Clement
The importance of this fixture cannot be underestimated given its huge significance both locally and across the globe. After losing to their opponents on penalties last time out, the Gers will be desperate they can get revenge for the defeat.
However, after a 2-2 draw against Motherwell on Sunday (29 December), with their opponents having two goals disallowed, Philippe Clement may be feeling some nerves going into this game.
The Belgian did make seven changes to his side on Sunday and potentially we could see those who were rested come back into the side as the Gers look to out a dent into a daunting 14-point gap to their rivals.

That being said, Clement is surely on his final life at Ibrox and therefore, this could make the occasion a very cagey one as he looks to hold on to his job.
Another big game between the two sides is set to come but for the Rangers manager, it holds even more importance as it could make or break his future.
