Rangers sack: Philippe Clement told he may as well hand in resignation
Philippe Clement may as well have handed his Rangers resignation in with the team he named for the draw against Motherwell, Bill Leckie has said.
The Gers were two goals down at Fir Park but came back to rescue a 2-2 draw due to a Hamza Igamane brace on 29 December.
Clement had initially rested the Moroccan forward and Vaclav Cerny for the clash ahead of the Glasgow derby with Celtic on 2 January.
Writing for the Scottish Sun [30 December], Leckie said: “So for Clement to cave and leave Vaclav Cerny and Hamza Igamane on the bench at Fir Park in case they picked up an injury from being fatigued?
“Well, he might as well have handed a resignation letter in with the teamsheet.”
Philippe Clement on borrowed time at Rangers
The Belgian manager probably wishes that he could rewind to the draw with Tottenham on 12 December.
His side secured an excellent result in the Europa League to cap off a five-match unbeaten run that had seen his side win four straight Scottish Premiership games.
Since then, they have lost the Premier Sports Cup final on penalties to arch-rivals Celtic, lost to St Mirren and drew with Motherwell in the league with one victory in their last four matches.

That has cranked the pressure right back up on Clement and it seems like a matter of when not if the former Monaco man will be given his marching orders.
There was talk of a title challenge just a few weeks ago but the Light Blues have now fallen 14 points behind Brendan Rodgers’ side.
A loss to the Bhoys in a few days could spell the end of his time in the Ibrox dugout if he does not go before then.
