Rangers ace Cyriel Dessers decent offer claim emerges ahead of transfer window

Fraser Wilson believes Rangers should cash in on Cyriel Dessers if they receive a decent offer for him.

The Daily Record journalist stated on 21 December that he does not seem good enough for the Ibrox outfit despite making 54 appearances in all competitions last season.

However, he has found game time hard to come by this campaign and has been linked with an exit in January. [Daily Record, 18 December]

Wilson said: “If a decent offer came in then Rangers should take it. Dessers is at an age where he’s not going to get better. And he’s simply not good enough for Rangers.”

Rangers cannot continue to rely on Cyriel Dessers

Despite his appearance tally, the 30-year-old has not consistently demonstrated the quality or impact required at Gers.

His inability to step up in crucial moments, often disappearing in important matches, has been a significant point of criticism.

While his overall statistics might not paint him as a poor performer, particularly his failure to convert key chances when the team desperately needs goals, has frustrated both fans and also Philippe Clement.

At his current age, there’s a ceiling to his potential improvement, which further supports the argument for moving him on if the right bid comes in.

His departure could provide Rangers with funds to invest in a forward who better aligns with the club’s ambitions and fan expectations.

Whether or not he’s sold in January remains to be seen, but there have been links so there seems to be some interest in his services.

In other Rangers news, the club have made contact to seal the transfer of a striker currently leading the Golden Boot race.
