Rangers are seriously considering making a bid for Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners, according to Soccernet.ng.

The news outlet reported on 20 December that Gers have kept a close eye on the South Africa forward and interest has intensified over the last few days.

With the January transfer window just around the corner, the Ibrox outfit appear keen on bringing in a goal scorer.

Rangers target Iqraam Rayners for his goal contributions

The 29-year-old is currently leading the Golden Boot standings in South Africa's top flight so it's evident he knows where the back of the net is.

In all competitions this term, he's scored 13 goals and provided six assists in 22 appearances which is nearly a goal or an assist every game.

While the competition in South Africa may not be as intense as Scotland, those are still impressive numbers.

If the Gers hierarchy believe that he can hit the ground running at Ibrox then by all means, he should be signed.

However, it's important that he has a quick impact as he's 29 so the club cannot wait for a few years before he hits his peak.

It is certainly an interesting transfer prospect and it remains to be seen if it materialises in the coming weeks.
