Kris Boyd baffled by what Hamza Igamane did in Rangers v Dundee, ‘Oh my days’

Kris Boyd could not believe his eyes as Hamza Igamane smashed a near-range effort against the crossbar as Rangers beat Dundee on Saturday.

Vaclav Cerny scored the only goal in a 1-0 win at Ibrox, securing an all-important three points for Philippe Clement’s side, but the striker could have made proceedings far more comfortable.

With 15 minutes left to play, Nico Raskin fired the ball across for the in-form Moroccan to score his seventh goal in Light Blue colours but saw his effort cannon back off the woodwork from six yards out.

Speaking live via Sky Sports [21 December, 4:39pm], Boyd said: “Oh, my days… You’ll have to go a long way today to find a worse miss than that. It’s a lovely ball from the right-hand side.

“Igamane is there, and you just think he’ll put this in the back of the net. McCausland closes the ball down, Raskin wins it back, he fires it across and Dundee players are attracted to the ball

“He’s in the six-yard box and he somehow manages to hit the bar and it comes back out. Wow, what a sitter.”

Hamza Igamane bewilders in Rangers win v Dundee

Only Igamane will know how he’s managed to miss from such close range, but lucky for the 22-year-old, his teammates were able to hold out for all three points.

The Gers have now pushed past Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership table, and with a game in hand, which was absolutely unthinkable just a few weeks ago.

The gap between Celtic has also been reduced, albeit they have a game in hand themselves, but Clement has certainly proved himself over the last few weeks, even despite the Scottish League Cup defeat.

The Belgian has been under a mountain of pressure this season, and rightly so, but with Clement finally being able to figure out his squad and players, things are starting to click at Ibrox.

Results have also seen the Light Blues thrive in Europa, rising to eighth in the new Europa League table above the likes of Tottenham, Ajax and Roma, which could lead to an exciting second half of the campaign.
