Hamza Igamane could quit Rangers after Everton development on Thursday

Rangers’ hopes of keeping hold of Hamza Igamane have taken a hit after an Everton development.

Igamane has become a “huge” player for the Gers in recent weeks and will no doubt be crucial to how the rest of the club’s season pans out.

Therefore, Philippe Clement will be desperate to keep hold of the in-form forward ahead of the January transfer window, especially with the future of Cyriel Dessers very much up in the air.

However, that looks as though it could be difficult to do.

According to TBR Football [17 December], Premier League club Everton are showing an interest in Igamane, with scouts from the club left “very impressed” after watching the striker score against Tottenham in a 1-1 UEFA Europa League draw at Ibrox on Thursday [12 December].

Rangers would be wise to do everything in their power to keep hold of the 22-year-old, and according to Graeme Bailey [18 December], that is exactly what they plan to do.

However, with Everton confirming via their official website on Thursday [19 December] that they have been taken over by the Friedkin Group, Igamane might be tempted by a move to Merseyside.

Hamza Igamane to quit Rangers and sign for Everton?

Unfortunately for the Gers, it is always difficult to prevent a player’s head from being turned when a Premier League club shows interest.

The Toffees have been one of England’s most chaotic clubs in recent years, constantly embroiled in financial trouble and relegation dogfights. Therefore, that could have worked in Rangers’ favour, as Igamane likely wouldn’t have had any interest in getting involved with such a mess.

However, now that Everton have been taken over, the in-form striker might feel differently.

The Friedkin Group will no doubt want to make an impact in January, and if Igamane is a player the club are interested in, they could come calling.

Suddenly, Igamane could be attracted by a big Premier League club under new ownership who will no doubt be able to offer the player more money.

However, Rangers will just have to hope this isn’t the case, as they won’t want to lose the player so soon after finding him.
