Rangers takeover claim shared with ‘Sugar Daddy’ mooted
Rangers will not be taken over by a sugar daddy to help bridge the gap with Celtic, according to Hugh MacDonald.
The Daily Mail journalist has claimed that FFP rules prevent this from happening and structural changes will be needed to be on par with their arch rivals.
However, it is going to be difficult to do as Celtic play in the Champions League so get much more in terms of revenue than Gers do as they’re in the Europa League.
MacDonald told PLZ Soccer at 50:18: “The idea of any sugar daddy coming in with a lot of money just to start buying players, it’s just not on. It can’t happen because of financial fair play. But what they’ve got to do is they’ve got to make real structural changes there.
“And that’s going to be challenging, trying to do that while competing with a club that we were talking about earlier [Celtic], that’s going to get tens and tens and tens of millions just from Europe alone, and who’s already on a very healthy financial footing.”
Rangers need to make thorough behind-the-scenes changes soon
Gers’ restructuring involves not just acquiring talent but ensuring that recruitment strategies are both effective and sustainable.
Filling key hierarchical positions with competent individuals is crucial for driving these changes.
The club need to appoint leaders who can implement a vision for the future, ensuring that recruitment aligns with the tactical needs of the team.
Furthermore, there must be a culture of accountability within the club.
Decisions should be made with transparency, mistakes must be acknowledged and there should be a clear path for improvement.
Without these structural changes, Rangers risk falling further behind, especially when competing against a financially robust club like Celtic, whose revenue from the Champions League provides a significant advantage.
In other Rangers news, the club have been savaged for the “shambolic” manner they have handled the qualms of a first-team player at Ibrox.
