Timo Werner ripped to shreds after what he did in Tottenham draw v Rangers
Timo Werner was ripped to shreds by Tom McManus after his poor performance for Tottenham against Rangers.
Werner was handed a start for the Europa League contest at Ibrox on Thursday (12 December), which finished in a 1-1 draw in which some performed better than others.
With Ange Postecoglou under pressure at the Lilywhites ahead of the game in Glasgow, the striker didn’t do the former Celtic manager any favours with his display and was eventually substituted at the break.
McManus wrote on his personal X account at half-time: “Honking. Hook surely at half-time.”
Rangers defenders kept Timo Werner quiet in Tottenham game
The Light Blues need to take immense pride in going toe-to-toe against one of the biggest teams in the Premier League.
While Tottenham aren’t in the best of form, Philippe Clement set the team up perfectly despite some doubts ahead of kickoff, and the Ibrox faithful were behind their team for the 90 minutes.
The North Londoners were second best for most of the fixture, and after conceding the equaliser, Cyriel Dessers had a brilliant opportunity but couldn’t convert.
Rangers conceded a silly goal, and if Dejan Kulusevski hadn’t beaten Jack Butland, Spurs would surely have been given a penalty for a foul in the build-up to the goal.
It wasn’t a happy return for Postecoglou to Glasgow, with the former Celtic head coach finding it difficult against Clement’s vibrant team, and his future now looking even more uncertain.
The Belgian manager has certainly made a case for himself after the poor start to the season, and a win in the Scottish League Cup final on Sunday [15 December] would undoubtedly wrap up a perfect week for the Light Blues.
In other Rangers news, Stuart Pearce was left stunned after and incredible incident in the Tottenham clash.
