Stuart Pearce stunned by ‘Incredible’ Rangers v Tottenham incident

Stuart Pearce was stunned after Jefte somehow gave the ball away in a dangerous area as Rangers drew 1-1 against Tottenham on Thursday.

The left-back started for the Gers against the North London club and misplaced a pass in the first half, giving Ange Postecoglou’s team a chance to find the back of the net.

Ibrox hosted Spurs on Thursday [12 December, 20:25] in the Europa League, and with the fixture still at a deadlock, the Light Blues’ defender gifted the Lilywhites an opportunity.

Speaking on talkSPORT [12 December], Pearce said: “Quite incredible that was, Jefte. He’s ended up attempting to play out, lost his thought process.

“All of a sudden, Spurs are onto him, and it probably looks the best way Spurs are going to turn this over, on the counterattack, very quickly. And all of a sudden, Rangers are looking in a bit of a problem.”

Rangers were sensational v Tottenham

The Bears shouldn’t have taken a gamble against a top Premier League outfit, and Tottenham would have undoubtedly punished Philippe Clement’s team if there were any more errors.

Having said that, the Light Blues dominated some of the biggest names in the Premier League and errors were rare in a quality performance at Ibrox.

The Belgian manager needed to tell his players to be calm on the ball, as Spurs looked vulnerable whenever the hosts got forward.

Rangers went toe-to-toe with the North Londoners, and Nicolas Raskin showcased his quality on the pitch throughout.

Jefte needed to be more composed and ensure that Jack Butland didn’t have to make any more saves than necessary, with the Bears eventually conceding in the 75th minute.

The Light Blues looked more dangerous in the game, and it will be interesting to see what Postecoglou’s future holds after the draw at Ibrox.
