Rangers seal permanent transfer as loanee decision made at Ibrox

Rangers will exercise the option to sign Oscar Cortes permanently from RC Lens, according to Julian Capera.

The ESPN and Radio Nacional journalist has reported that the Colombian will complete his permanent move to Ibrox, despite recent injury issues this season.

It is said that the coaching staff at Rangers are convinced that Cortes can add to the project being built in Govan after what he has shown when fit.

Millonarios are said to have a 20 per cent sell-on clause from the deal with Lens.

Rangers to seal Oscar Cortes transfer

There were doubts over the Colombian attacker due to his injury record since arriving at Ibrox, but it appears they must not be as serious as feared.

With the option being around £4million, Clement must have seen something that not many others have given the constant setbacks for Cortes.

After returning to training on 27 November, Clement confirmed that it would take a few weeks until Cortes could return to action.

That was positive news, and with another crucial game against Celtic in the Scottish League Cup final on 15 December, it is more likely that the winger will return closer to Christmas, for his sake.

He has been rushed back before and it’s clear that he cannot handle that pressure on his body immediately, so it is crucial that this is managed better after several breakdowns over the past year.

Cortes will be desperate to get back in the action, but knowing that he is being backed with this permanent move, hopefully, it will bring the best out of him when he is needed the most.
