Alan Brazil reacts to Aherne ‘Smash Tottenham’ Rangers comment – ‘Calm Down’

Alan Brazil jokingly told talkSPORT co-host Shebahn Aherne to “calm down” after a sarcastic reaction she gave to Tottenham’s injury news for the Europa League clash at Rangers.

First-choice centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are out for Spurs for the Battle of Britain clash at Ibrox, while Ben Davies is also absent for Ange Postecoglou.

Brazil, Aherne and Gabby Agbonlahor – the former two who are both Celtic fans – were discussing the game with a Rangers supporter called Chris on live on talkSPORT (12 December, 7:53am).

“Chris, Tottenham’s centre-backs are out as well so it’s going to be an interesting game. The two centre-halves are out aren’t they?” Brazil said.

Agbonlahor also mentioned Davies, which drew a dry retort from Aherne who said: “Yeah, so obviously Rangers are going to smash Tottenham then good point guys.”

Brazil then chimed in by saying: “No, no, no just calm down will you? Just calm down.

Aherne added: “I’m calm as a cucumber over here.”

Rangers can make the most of Tottenham absentees

Rangers head into this blockbuster Europa League clash brimming with confidence having racked up four straight wins, which started with the impressive 4-1 thrashing of Nice in the same competition.

Moreover, they host Tottenham at what will be a fired-up Ibrox at arguably the perfect time given the fact Postecoglou’s men are wildly out of form – including a 4-3 home reverse to Chelsea at the weekend.

With the visitors having plenty of issues in defence, it feels like there is a great opportunity for Rangers to pull of what most would consider an upset this evening.

To do so they will need every player at the top of their game and there will be moments where they have to sit deep, be patient and pick their moments to attack.

And it is also important not to take Spurs lightly despite their issues, they still have a squad absolutely brimming with talent. But, it does feel like the stars might be aligning for a famous win…
