Ange Postecoglou sack mooted before Rangers v Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou could be sacked at Tottenham before the Rangers showdown on Thursday, Stephen McGowan says.

The Light Blues cruised to a 3-0 win at Ross County on 8 December in the Scottish Premiership and are set to face Spurs next in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Scottish Daily Mail journalist admits the Australian risks being booted by Daniel Levy before the North Londoners visit Ibrox after their 4-3 loss to Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

McGowan wrote on his personal X account [8 December]: “Big Ange might not make it to Ibrox.”

Ange Postecoglou has history with Rangers

Postecoglou has a history with the Bears after facing them multiple times during his reign as the head coach at Celtic.

In 11 games against the Australian during his time at the Hoops, the Gers lost six times in 11 matches, managing just three wins.

While Tottenham might be on a low right now, they’re still one of the biggest teams in the English top flight, and Philippe Clement can’t underestimate them.

Rangers are meeting Spurs at an opportune time, though, and with the home fans on their side, the Light Blues could pull off something special.

It could end up being one of the best European nights under the lights at Ibrox, and recent form should give supporters immense confidence going into the game.

The Bears are unbeaten in their last eight fixtures in all competitions, winning 4-1 in their previous Europa League match against OGC Nice on 28 November.

Hamza Igamane has found his feet in recent weeks, and it looks like Clement has finally found the solution to the Gers’ goalscoring woes.

The timing for things coming together at Ibrox couldn’t be better, but the challenge that Tottenham pose will be massive, regardless of their injuries and form.
