Rangers could earn Ange Postecoglou the sack when Tottenham Hotspur visit Ibrox this week, according to Hugh Keevins.

Keevins shared via the Daily Record [8 December] that should Philippe Clement's side overcome an out-of-sorts Spurs in the Europa League on Thursday night [12 December], the former Celtic boss could have the final nail cast into his coffin by his old arch-nemeses.

Clement's Gers have steadily improved in recent games and are continuing to largely impress in Europe, but first face Ross County in a Scottish Premiership clash, with the Old Firm League Cup final at Hampden [15 December] coming after Spurs.

"If the stars align against Spurs it will be Ange’s job in danger rather than anyone else’s," Keevins said.

"The idea of a team from England’s Premier League losing to the team in third place in Scotland’s Premiership will be an alien concept for those in charge at Tottenham."

Rangers fans would love to haunt Ange Postecoglou

While Postecoglou enjoyed plenty of success against various Rangers managers during his time in Glasgow, a small and ironic retribution for Gers fans could well be to make his job untenable at Spurs.

The Australian will be gleefully given a hostile reception at Ibrox on Thursday, before which both he and Clement must navigate their weekend league schedule.

Another game previously branded a "stumbling block" represents a further chance for three points on the board early on Sunday afternoon for the Light Blues, before Spurs host an in-form Chelsea outfit off the back of a defeat at Bournemouth which witnessed crowd confrontations with Postecoglou at the final whistle.

If Rangers were to secure an unlikely victory over Tottenham, it would be a potentially huge catalyst, with that wave of momentum acting as a superb help towards the club's chances of retaining the League Cup next Sunday (15 December)

Europe has often released the shackles on this Rangers team, and the club as a whole. If they can channel the ferocity of Ibrox in the right way, there is no reason Gers cannot cause a shock to this capable but fragile Spurs team.
