Rangers shareholders to dread fixture ahead of Patrick Stewart arrival
Rangers shareholders will be dreading the Scottish League Cup final against Celtic, according to Keith Jackson.
The Gers face their arch-rivals at Hampden Park on 15 December, with new Chief Executive Officer Patrick Stewart starting his role the day after.
The former Manchester United chief will not be in place for the Annual General Meeting on 5 December, where shareholders and board members will meet to discuss issues.
Writing for the Daily Record on 3 December, Jackson said: “The man they really need to hear from – incoming CEO Patrick Stewart – will not be available to address the questions that really have to be asked.
“The former Manchester United head honcho has agreed to take on Bisgrove’s role but not until December 16, giving him an 11-day buffer from the AGM.
“He’ll also begin work 24 hours after Philippe Clement has faced Celtic at Hampden in a League Cup Final, the prospect of which many of these shareholders will already be dreading.”
Philippe Clement hanging on at Rangers
The Belgian manager is hanging on to his position in the Ibrox dugout by a string at the moment.
The Gers find themselves third in the Scottish Premiership behind leaders Celtic by 11 points and seven points behind second-place Aberdeen.
The impending appointments of a new CEO and chairman led to suggestions they should part ways with Clement, but it appears he will get a reprieve with the news that Malcolm Offord will not be taking over as chairman.

It is still surely only a matter of time before the Belgian leaves the club, with performances on the pitch failing to impress the Ibrox faithful.
The final against Celtic is a huge game for Clement, surely if they lose then Stewart and the board will have an easy decision to make on his future.
In other Rangers news, Derek Ferguson is “bewildered” by something he saw happen with the Gers recently.
