Rangers could agree pre-contract with Aberdeen ace Jack MacKenzie
Daily Record journalist Scott McDermott has urged Rangers to sign Aberdeen left-back Jack MacKenzie as his contract runs down at Pittodrie.
The 24-year-old’s deal with the Dons runs out in June and McDermott encouraged the Gers to start discussing a pre-contract with the Scottish full-back.
In his column in the Sunday Mail (1 December, page 60), McDermott has suggested that Nils Koppen should be speaking to the defender with a view to bringing him in for free.
The journalist described a potential deal as a “no-brainer” as MacKenzie looks “unlikely to sign a new deal at Pittodrie” before the winter window opens.
Rangers could sign Jack MacKenzie from Aberdeen on pre-contract
The Gers do have plenty of left-back options available to them with Jefte and Ridvan Yilmaz already available for Philippe Clement.
Despite this, a move for the Aberdeen man may prove to make sense during January as Koppen looks to put his stamp on the side.
The Belgian is keen to bring more Scottish talent in at Ibrox and on a free transfer, he could do much worse than bringing MacKenzie in.
Given that Scot is set to have just six months remaining on his current deal, the Light Blues are able to at least open a dialogue over a potential move.

Rangers already have experience signing star names on free transfers from the Dons after Connor Barron came in over the summer.
This could prove to make an approach easier at Pittodrie and show the 24-year-old that there is a clear pathway to becoming a regular starter in Govan.
In other Rangers news, one ace now looks set to be ruled out for months rather than weeks with a serious an injury.
