French media have gone mad in after ‘incredible’ moments in Rangers win v Nice
French media have gone mad at Nice for their performance while remaining reluctant to praise Rangers in their 4-1 win on Thursday.
The Gers secured yet another three points in the Europa League on 28 November in a surprise thrashing of the Ligue 1 outfit.
There were many star performances from the Light Blues with Hamza Igamane stealing the headlines after netting a brace at the Allianz Riviera.
With that being said, media outlets in France put the result down to the frailties of Nice, as opposed to the quality shown by Philippe Clement’s side.
This saw L’Equipe label Rangers as “opportunistic” while suggesting the home side were “weighed down by numerous absences but especially by defensive errors”.
French media refuse to praise Rangers in Nice tirade
There were plenty of other outlets who suggested the win was down to nothing more than a poor night from the Eaglets.
This was reflected by RMC Sport who said: “Hit by a cascade of absentees, the Nice completely took on water this Thursday against a Rangers helped by the incredible errors of Nice.”
This sentiment was echoed by Foot Mercato who suggested that “Nice showed too much wait-and-see attitude”.
Regardless of the poor defensive showing that the French side put up, the Light Blues still had to take advantage and they did exactly that.
There was plenty to admire about the performance from Clement’s men with anyone from Igamane to Jefte having a positive impact.

Arguably, the Gers should have scored more on the night with substitutes Ridvan Yilmaz and Cyriel Dessers missing clear-cut chances late on.
This was a result that supporters have been hoping for and the positivity surrounding that can’t be reduced by the media’s reaction.
