Vaclav Cerny delivers ‘brutal’ Old Firm verdict after Rangers loss v Celtic
Vaclav Cerny admits Rangers were “outclassed” by Celtic in the “brutal” Old Firm Derby defeat at Parkhead on Sunday.
The Gers fell victim to their arch-rivals once again as they fell to a 3-0 defeat in Glasgow’s East End.
Not only did this extend Philippe Clement’s poor run of form against the Bhoys, but it also showed the gulf in quality between both clubs.
Speaking to Rangers Review (5 September), summer signing Cerny shared his thoughts on the game.
“We didn’t do well at all, they outclassed us in everything,” he said. “Now we have to catch them at any cost, that’s our main goal.
“I haven’t seen such a rivalry for a long time. Of course, I never played for Sparta Prague or Slavia Prague in their derby.
“But compared with our main derby it is far bigger and more brutal.”
Rangers need to buck their ideas up as soon as possible
Not only did the Gers have quite an underwhelming summer transfer window but they now have to face the noise from their fans in terms of their poor results.
Clement’s men are currently sat in fourth place, 5 points behind league leaders Aberdeen.
The likes of Robin Propper who was brought in to help shore up the Gers’ defence had a howler against Celtic [Sky Sports, 1 September] and looks to be a downgrade on Conor Goldson, for now at least.
Granted, not all of Clement’s summer transfers have made their debut just yet with defender Neraysho Kasanwirjo one of them.

The Netherlands under-21 international could have the answers that Clement needs in terms of solidifying his defence due to his calmness on the ball [Daily Record, 5 September] but it feels unfair to rely upon the 22-year-old week in and week out.
Of course, it’s still early in the season to make any predictions but if things don’t improve soon, Clement can miss the title goodbye once again.
