Rangers defender Robin Propper has been blasted by Neil McCann live on Sky Sports following his defensive showing against Celtic.

The Dutch centre-back slipped at an inopportune moment as the Gers went behind to Daizen Maida's first-half opener at Celtic Park.

Kyogo Furuhashi and Callum McGregor also scored as Rangers lost 3-0 on a miserable afternoon.

McCann, speaking on co-commentary for Sky Sports Main Event (1 September), focused on Propper's slip, saying: "What is Propper doing there?

"He's dropping, trying to cover Jefte, I think it is. He just goes and offers [Kyogo] two or three yards - you can't do it to that wee guy. He's clinical."

Rangers in dire straits in Old Firm v Celtic

The contest in Glasgow seemed, unfortunately for Rangers, entirely predictable as Celtic claimed a comfortable victory.

Brendan Rodgers' side got in behind time and time again, threatening in the final third, with Philippe Clement's side merely feeding off scraps going forward through a couple of Cyriel Dessers sniffs, chances coming at a premium.

In the bigger picture, the club's struggles through periods of the transfer window have not helped matters here, with Clement and Nils Koppen wanting to have strengthened the squad more than has been the case.

This is primarily down to being unable to offload surplus players from the books until the 11th hour of the window, with Todd Cantwell, Ben Davies and Scott Wright all leaving late in the day - the latter performing last-minute heroics on his Birmingham City debut.
