Rangers eye huge profit already after another new signing sealed at Ibrox this summer
Clinton Nsiala is not expected to make a major impact at Rangers from the off after the defender was signed from AC Milan, according to the Daily Record.
The outlet claimed on their website (14 June) that the 20-year-old defender is a “project signing” who the Light Blues hope that he will follow former Ibrox ace Calvin Bassey in blossoming at the club before being sold on at a “huge profit”.
Nsiala has never played a game in senior football despite being named in first-team squads during his time with the Italian giants, so how he fares in Glasgow is seen as “the big unknown”.
The young Frenchman became the third confirmed signing of the summer after he agreed a pre-contract to join on 1 July, following the arrival of full-back Jefte and a loan-to-buy deal to bring winger Oscar Cortes back.
Clinton Nsiala not expected to make early Rangers impact
For the here and now Rangers clearly need players who can improve the first team straight away so more business is to be expected during the transfer window.
But a low-risk and potentially high-reward move for a young player who was not without his admirers could turn out to be a masterstroke if everything works out as hoped.
If Nsiala doesn’t end up making the sort of contribution that Bassey did three seasons ago then there is relatively little harm done since he arrives on a free and is unlikely to be on massive wages at this stage.
But if he manages to become the player that Philippe Clement no doubt hopes then the Light Blues will benefit down the line.

As long as the manager and Nils Koppen are able to also bring in enough reinforcements of sufficient ability and experience to lift the performance levels from the get-go next season then the likes of Nsiala can, in theory, develop in the background.
But should he be obliged to step in early and prove his worth it would likely mean a continuation of the extensive injury issues at Ibrox, or a collapse in form from those ahead of him.
In other Rangers news, a “real issue” at Ibrox is likely to see a first-team player make a permanent exit this summer.
