Rangers Women make Leah Eddie contract announcement as first summer transfer confirmed
Rangers Women have announced the signing of Hibernian defender Leah Eddie as their first arrival of the summer transfer window.
The Light Blues confirmed via X on Friday (31 May) that the Scottish international will join Jo Potter’s ranks in Glasgow ahead of pre-season following the expiry of her contract at the end of the current campaign.
Eddie previously played for the Light Blues in 2018 before enjoying five years away from Ibrox, but the 23-year-old has admitted she was immediately sold on a potential move back to the Gers.
As quoted by RangersTV (31 May) she said: “I was shown around the facility, seeing where the girls do their job and their pitch sessions and stuff like that, was something I was really impressed with.
“Just their ambitions and what they want to achieve next season. It is something that I would love to be a part of and hopefully, I can add to what they have already got.”
Will Rangers Women beat Celtic to the Scottish Women’s Premier League title?
While the men’s side under Philippe Clement are preparing to undergo a major rebuild to close the gap to Celtic at the top end of the table, Potter and her recruitment team are looking to fine-tune their side over the summer.
The Gers had a successful season as they won a cup double, but they would have been frustrated to have missed out on the league title in such dramatic fashion on the final day of the campaign.
But the Light Blues’ performances in the Old Firm matches last term showed that they are not a million miles away from their Glasgow rivals. With the right couple of additions this summer, Potter’s side can get their hands on the league.
Leah has impressed in a Hibernian shirt over the last few years and has plenty of experience in the Scottish game. If she can hit the ground running in a Rangers shirt, she could be a real difference-maker over the next few years
